This model Road Race Header that we offer is intended to bolt-up to the Road Race Presilencer section. This header is not compatible with the 1989-1991 RX-7 convertible chassis equipped with the automatic transmission: the header outlet will make contact with the transmission case.

Racing Beat's Road Racing Header is the first step in building a serious racing exhaust system. The engine-to-pipe flange is laser cut from 7/16" thick flat steel for superb exhaust gas sealing qualities. Like all of the headers we manufacture, the Road Racing Header is constructed with 2" OD mild steel tubing, .120" wall thickness, and mandrel-bent tubing throughout. This header weighs approximately 15.5 lbs and is approximately 28" in length.

On the 1986-1988 13B 6-Port engines, the auxiliary intake actuators are operated by back pressure from the exhaust system. This header features a back pressure pick-up tube that allows for the correct operation of the 6-port intake actuators. Also included on the header is an oxygen sensor position for cars that require an exhaust oxygen sensor for correct operation.

Outlet flange gaskets, bolts, nuts, and installation instructions are included. An Engine-to-Header gasket is not included, but is available separately if needed.

On the 1986-1988 13B 6-Port engines, the auxiliary intake actuators are operated by backpressure from the exhaust system. On the later 1989-1991 13B 6-Port engines, these actuators are operated by air pressure from the emissions control air pump. Installation of this header does NOT require the removal of the air pump, and therefore the operation of the 6-port actuators are not affected. Included on the header is an oxygen sensor position for cars that require an oxygen sensor for correct operation.

Outlet flange gaskets, bolts, nuts, and installation instructions are included. An Engine-to-Header gasket is not included, but is available separately if needed.

Our rotary exhaust Header/Collector is designed for a bolt-on installation, when used with the appropriate Power Pulse Presilencer, in all 1986-1991 non-turbo RX-7s. The combination of this Header/Collector and the appropriate presilencer replaces the stock exhaust manifold and all catalytic converters, along with any intermediate pieces of tubing. (In this application, the presilencer will bolt-up to the factory Y-pipe.)

For optimum performance gains for this application, we recommend that a header be used on an engine configured with a carburetor intake system. For this reason, we suggest another suitable configuration for use on a fuel-injected engine is the Racing Beat Catalytic Converter Replacement Pipe with Presilencer combo. These components offer comparable performance gains, quieter performance and a price advantage as compared with the header/presilencer combination. These components replace only the stock exhaust components located between the stock exhaust manifold and the Y-pipe.

The Header/Collector assembly is constructed with .120" wall, mandrel-bent, mild steel tubing (2" OD primary, 2.5" OD secondary) for excellent durability and noise suppression. Both flanges are laser cut from 7/16" thick steel plate for positive gas sealing. An outlet gasket is included. An engine-to-header gasket is available separately if needed. This header is equipped with an oxygen sensor fitting.

Our RX-7 exhaust system consists of a Racing Beat Y-pipe and two 2.375"-inch (OD) 304-stainless steel Power Pulse mufflers. The replacement Y-pipe is manufactured using 2.5-inch (OD) tubing, splitting off into a pair of 2-inch (OD) tubes feeding the left and right Power Pulse Muffler canisters.

Careful consideration was given to the correct placement of each muffler canister with regards to the opening in the rear bumper. We've positioned the muffler canister "under" the rear bumper in order to present a more integrated look. Unlike many aftermarket systems that use a simple universal muffler, the Racing Beat system utilizes a rotary-engine designed muffler that has been specifically designed for the 1986-92 RX-7 application.

Performance tests on a Dyno Jet chassis dyno have shown a 7.3 HP gain over the stock system (stock Turbo II). This bolt-on system uses the stock mounting points for ease of installation. Each system is supplied with all necessary mounting hardware and gaskets.

The Racing Beat Full Stainless Steel RX-7 dual exhaust system has been designed to maximize the exhaust gas scavenging benefits while maintaining reasonable sound level outputs.

NOTE: This exhaust system is not compatible with automatic transmission equipped-vehicles due to interference issues with the bell housing.

1986-1988 RX-7 Road Race Header
The Racing Beat Road Race Header for the 1986-1988 13B 6-Port chassis features stainless steel construction for excellent durability. Also incorporated with this header is the requisite exhaust back-pressure pickup tube, necessary to assure the correct operation of the 6-port intake actuators mounted on the engine. (If you have removed these intake actuators or have rendered them inoperable, you can install the 1989-1991 Road Race system instead.)

Road Race Presilencer
Mating to the outlet of the header is the Racing Beat Road Race Presilencer. The straight-through dual presilencer unit offers beneficial sound reducing qualities by trapping a significant level of the harsh rotary exhaust note.

Road Race Y-Pipe
The Racing Beat Y-Pipe section routes the exhaust gases exiting the presilencer section to each of the Power Pulse muffler units.

Road Race Mufflers (Left and Right Pair)
Sharing the same design technology as our Power Pulse muffler units, the Road Race mufflers (Left and Right) feature all stainless steel construction for superior durability and appearance. Large diameter tubing routes the exhaust gas through each muffler unit, exiting through polished stainless steel tips.

The REV TII High Performance RX-7 Exhaust is legendary with FC3S owners. This RX-7 exhaust system includes a 3-inch OD REV TII Down Pipe from the turbo outlet that mates to a REV TII Presilencer section. The outlet of the presilencer connects to the inlet of the REV TII Y-Pipe which routes the exhaust gases down two 2.375-inch OD (60mm) pipes into a pair of left and right REV TII Power Pulse Mufflers. Once installed, this bolt-on exhaust system increases horsepower approximately 32% - that's a 59 HP increase on a 1987 Turbo II RX-7!

The REV TII High Performance RX-7 Exhaust system reduces exhaust gas back-pressure significantly, thereby allowing the un-assisted turbo boost pressure to increase to 10-11 psi. (Note: A fuel cut controller device is required to prevent fuel cutoff to the rear rotor above the factory pre-set limit.)

This bolt-on system uses the stock mounting points for ease of installation. Each system is supplied with all necessary mounting hardware and gaskets. (The kit does not include turbo outlet gasket, if needed it can be ordered separately.) The down pipe section is provided with a position for the oxygen sensor.
